After decades in the big-box retail industry, the team behind Play Kelowna realized something was missing. The shop opened in August 2015 with a simple vision: take the valuable lessons from time in the corporate retail world and shift the focus to service, knowledge, kindness, and community. Over a decade later, the result of that vision is a place that feels like home, driven by a well-trained staff that hikes, runs, walks, and trains right here in Kelowna. At its core, Play is nothing without its community and team.

Our team members Play on the same trails, roads, and run clubs as the people they serve. They're hikers, runners, walkers, gym regulars, and students of movement. We'd tell you more about each of them, but the best way to meet them is to come in.
You Can't Same-day Ship This Service
Simply put, a kind and welcoming environment with a dedicated expert (shoe nerd) goes a long way. A team that knows our local trails and the difference between them can get you fitted right, so you don’t have to think about it again. Your time is valuable and we’ll make sure it is well spent.

Do I need to be a runner to shop here?
Not even close! Play Kelowna serves runners, hikers, walkers, gym regulars, nurses on 12-hour shifts, and grandparents fitting their first pair of orthotics. If you want to move, you belong here.
Do you carry wide widths?
Yes, and it's one of the things we do better than most. Men's widths go up to 4E, women's to D width, in-store. Footwear goes up to size 15 for men and size 11 for women. Special orders are available within our brand partnerships if you need something specific.
Do you do gait analysis/shoe fittings?
Every single day. Our team uses a Brannock device to measure your feet, watches how you walk, asks about your history with shoes, and narrows that massive footwear wall down to the ones worth trying. No gait machine, just experienced eyes and good questions.
How long does a fitting take?
Five minutes if you know exactly what you want. Up to an hour if your situation is more complex. Both are completely normal and both are welcome.
Are we dog friendly?
Absolutely! It makes our day when you bring your furry friends.
Do you price-match?
Most current models carry a minimum advertised price, which means the price is the same everywhere. If a competitor has the exact same model, size, and colour actively in stock without MAP protection, we'll match it. We don't match Amazon or Costco.
What brands do you carry?
HOKA, Brooks, Salomon, On, New Balance, Patagonia, Arc'teryx, rabbit, Injinji, Garmin, and more, a full brand list lives here.
Can I buy online and pick up in store?
Yes. In-store pickup is available, and we ship across Canada.
Do you accept old running shoes for donation?
Yes! We routinely donate used shoes to Kelowna Gospel Mission. If you're picking up a fresh pair or just need to make some closet space we'll gladly take them anytime.
